Frequently Asked Questions

Pelvic Floor

What is my pelvic floor?

These are the muscles between your legs, from your pubic bone in front to the base of your spine at the back. Imagine a sling. This ‘sling’ holds your bladder and urethra. It’s these muscles that let you control your bladder.

What causes pelvic floor disorders?

Weakened pelvic floor muscles. The most common culprits are pregnancy (especially repeated child births), ageing and obesity.

How long will it take to see results?

You’ll need to be committed to doing the exercises daily for at least three months if you want to see a significant improvement. After this, you should continue to do the exercises at least a few times a week. It will become second nature to do your exercises – after all, you won’t want to lose the benefits you’ve gained!

I’ve never done pelvic floor exercises before. How do I know I’m doing them correctly?

It’s very important to make sure you’re doing them right so you don’t waste your time or, worse, cause injury! The Educator is a great product to use when you’re just starting to understand how your pelvic floor works. It acts as a visual aid by showing you whether or not your muscles are contracting the way they should.

How can pelvic floor exercises improve my sex life?

Orgasms are related to the squeeze pressure of the pelvic floor muscles, so by strengthening these muscles, your orgasms will be more intense. Plus, not having to worry about embarrassing leaks during sex means you can enjoy yourself!

Neen products

Can I use Neen products when I’m pregnant?

Please contact your GP or other healthcare professional for advice.

How soon after giving birth can I use these products?

Listen to your body, and start as soon as you feel comfortable. You should wait until any stitches or grazes have healed, which might take up to 8 weeks. If you’re unsure, you should wait until you’ve been given the all clear at your post-natal check-up.

Do I need to use a lubricant with Neen products?

It’s up to you. You may feel more comfortable if you use a lubricant so insertion is easier, particularly if you experience vaginal dryness.

How do I clean the products?

Wash every part of the Neen product in soapy water, rinse, and thoroughly dry it. This must be done every time you use it.

Where can I buy Neen products?

You can buy the Educator® and Aquaflex® products in stores like Boots, or you can purchase them online from Boots.com. Please see our Where to Buy page for more details. Some Neen products are best used with professional advice, so you should speak with your GP or other healthcare professional for more information.
